Hi folks,
A new format for you this week. I’m delighted to bring you the first in a new series of Customer Futures Conversations.
Diving into all things Empowerment Tech. Real discussion with real experts, talking about real use cases out there. Covering everything from the digital customer experience and the realities of market adoption, to commercial models, the tech and much more.
And yes, the latest on digital ID, digital wallets, and Personal AI.
It’s about the questions that don’t get asked. The perspectives that get missed. And digging into the real stories from those on the front line, building the new digital tools that empower people in this new, mad, AI-everywhere world.
We kick off the series with the topic du jour in the UK: Digital ID.
Because the Government has just announced a new digital identity programme, including mandatory ID checks for those working in the country. To say the least, it’s stirred the digital ID soup.
And of course, everyone from privacy advocates and big business, to the media and tech providers, has an opinion.
So we’ve brought together three leading UK experts from the digital identity, wallets and credentials industry to make sense of it all. What’s actually being proposed by the UK, what’s being misunderstood, and what’s missing from the public debate.
Joining me in this first edition of Customer Futures Conversations are:
David Rennie - Chief Trust Officer, Orchestrating Identity
Richard Oliphant - Independent lawyer and Digital ID advisor
James Monaghan - Founder, Mission
It was an excellent and packed discussion, and we covered a lot of ground:
Understanding the Government’s role in citizen ID (01:01)
The UK market response and industry perspective (06:46)
Digital ID in the EU and around the world (11:24)
Cultural differences in the perception of digital ID (15:44)
The role of the private sector (18:35)
Getting the communications right (26:47)
What you need to be thinking about when it comes to digital ID (31:42)
You can find the full recording here.
Would love your feedback. There’s much more coming, so stay tuned for more episodes soon.
It’s such a critical time to get the conversation right about digital ID. And there’s never been a more important time to help shape the future of being a digital customer.
